What has four legs and move mountains?

“One day we will learn that the heart can never be totally right if the head is totally wrong. Only through the bringing together of head and heart — intelligence and goodness — shall man rise to a fulfillment of his true nature.”

Well said! Rev. Martin Luther King. Jr.

I, too, often wonder how to bridge the gap between head and heart and build successful dreams. You did it! If you only lived to see what became of this country — you would be proud of the progress. Don’t get me wrong, we still have a long way to go.

In the 60’s and 70’s many people had dreams of living in a peaceful world — a world of equality. But, only a handful actually did something about it. Your dream of equality for humankind was HUGE. You not only had your own doubts to deal with, but others were willing and ready to kill; to see to it that your dream was not built in the minds of others. Why? What empowered you to charge after that dream, to build successful dreams — at the time it seemed unachievable, while many others remained a spectator of life?
You were a Dream Builder — a breed of people I call RHYNO! I also believe RHYNOs must have four characteristics. These characteristics are required when hunting for success in life’s jungle. Those who possess them will gain a tremendous advantage in the hunt for success…

The Four Pedestals of a Successful Dream Builder:

  • Passion: Have a love for what you do for a living.
Everyday people settle into careers, to pay the bills, they later regret. Start a business simply because of the income potential without any consideration for their passion; which later they come to regret after a tremendous waste of time and invested financial resources.
So, how about you? What is your passion? Is it something you’ve buried in the past, in the attic of your mind, or in excuses? You know your passion — you feel it in your bones — something you recognize in the deepest recesses of your mind as “the right thing” for you. Are you living it now? If not, why not? Are you trying to build successful dreams?

  • Belief: You must believe in the end results and have faith you’ll get there.
To have hope you must take risks, to take risks you must believe. To achieve what you believe – to build successful dreams, you must take action. I believe the more risks you take no matter how small, you’ll accumulate enough faith in yourself to charge (take action) and breakthrough most barriers and challenges in life’s jungle. What risks are you willing to take? What past, and possibly out dated, beliefs are limiting your actions?

  • Attitude: You absolutely must possess a positive mental attitude towards your business, customers, associates, friends, family members, and most importantly, towards YOURSELF.
Do not allow negative self-talk dominate the majority of your thoughts. If it does, you are doomed for gloom. Attitude can have a dramatic effect on your health and wealth. A negative attitude is the wind that keeps your candle light of passion at bay. It prevents you from igniting any chances of creating a better life and being able to build successful dreams. Pessimistic people become depressed, angry at the world, and tend to live a shorter life.Optimistic People tend to have positive views of situations differently from those of negative people; here are some general observations:In times of uncertainty…

Pessimist:
I usually expect the worst
I look on the dark side of things
I hardly ever expect things to go my way

Optimist:
I usually expect the best
I look on the bright side of things
I do not always expect things to go my way. When they do not, I try to learn something from the experience

The words you use can also affect your attitude; “I won’t” indicates a choice, whereas “I can’t” indicates a powerlessness. Our attitudes develop throughout the course of our lives — so it would be difficult for pessimists to change overnight. However, it is possible through a process I call “Thought Stomping”. The next time you are thinking or saying a negative comment or statement, picture a 6000 pound RHYNO stomping it with the crashing power of its front hooves; then replace it with a positive thought. Example: Negative statement; “For the life of me I can’t finish this article.” (STOMP IT OUT & REPLACE IT) Positive statement; “I enjoy writing and my article could have a positive impact on another life. I can and will finish it!”

  • Knowledge: You must have a strong desire and willingness to learn from your experiences and others.
It’s essential you obtain both “Book Smarts” and “Street Smarts” to build successful dreams. Education is commonly referred to as the process of learning and obtaining knowledge. The process of education does not begin when a child starts school; it begins at home. Knowledge can be obtained from teachers, parents, family members, and even acquaintances. In most societies receiving an education is extremely vital and necessary if one is to achieve success. For the elite RHYNOs of the world, the process of education does not end at graduation. It’s a life-long endeavor. Where did your education end?
Knowledge is the key that allows people to move mountains of limitations, replace out-dated beliefs, build better societies, experience better lives, and ultimately succeed individually and collectively. No one should be deprived of it! Are you still learning?

So, Rev. Martin Luther King, Abraham Lincoln, President Roosevelt & J.F. Kennedy, Founding fathers of our Great Nation, Sam Walton of Wal-Mart, Bill Gates of Microsoft, Michael Dell of Dell Computers, Steve Jobs of Apple, Walt Disney of Disneyland and Disney World, writers and authors who chronicled their journeys, and many other RHYNOs who charged after and achieved their dreams… thank you for lighting my path.

What has four legs and moves mountains? A RHYNO. Build your dreams on all four pedestals; you too can charge toward and accomplish great legacies.

Those of you who are still charging after your dreams; looking to start a business, would like to go to college, achieve your ideal weight, live and provide a better life; and currently have not seen much in the way of results…

Keep charging!

“To accomplish great things you must not only act but also dream, not only plan but also believe.”
