Monday 12 August, 2019.Here are some of my favourite everyday essential oil recipes

With a bit of knowledge (these oils have a real effect on your system) you can personalise your blends to suit your needs.

Have fun with them!

REMEMBER… Do not use more than is necessary…
If the essential oil recipes call for one drop, do not use two drops.

  • Do You Get Anxious When Flying?

Add one drop of lavender and one drop of geranium to a tissue and seal in a plastic bag. When you begin to feel anxious, take a deep sniff, lie back, close your eyes and relax. Also works well when you are feeling irritable.

  • A Recipe For Those Long, Hot Summer Drives

Keep one drop of lavender, eucalyptus or peppermint on one or two balls of cotton wool. Place on the back window shelf to keep your nerves calm.

  • Bothered By Jet-Lag?

One of my most used essential oil recipes…

Jet lag occurs because your body clock is out of sync with the new environment.

Before you leave home, have a bath using this essential oil recipe… two drops of peppermint or eucalyptus. If you shower, put a drop of each on a face cloth and wipe over yourself after the shower.

When you arrive at your destination, try and stay awake until the local bed time.

Before going to bed, relax in a bath with one drop of lavender and one drop of geranium.

Or, put a small amount of nut or vegetable oil in your hand and add one drop of lavender and one drop of geranium and rub the oil around and up your neck.

Cover the shoulder blades and as much of the upper back as possible, as well as the chest and solar plexus.

Inhale deeply all the time.

Even better, if you have a travelling companion you can do it for each other.

Rubbing over your lower back and hips will help relieve travel stress and tension caused from sitting in one position for a long time.

For the best results, repeat this for a few days.

  • A Strange Loo Not For You?

Wipe the seat, top and bottom, with a tissue with a neat drop of thyme on it.

Don’t forget the handle and the doorknobs.

For really tough areas use thyme, eucalyptus and lavender as these three together make a powerful bactericide.

  • For The Hotel Room And Beds

A mattress wiped with thyme, lavender and lemongrass tissue will keep the bedbugs away.

A drop of neat lavender on your earlobes and wrists and ankles and the mosquitoes will leave you alone.

  • Fun In The Sun

I spend a lot of time in the sun and the outdoors.

My favorite after a day’s tanning is a warm bath with about a tablespoon of the following blend:

8 drops lavender,

3 drops chamomile,

1 drop bergamot,

2 drops geranium.

I normally use a 50ml squeeze bottle of almond oil as base oil.

This blend can also be rubbed over the whole body after a shower.

If I know beforehand that I am in for a day in the sun, I soak in an oil bath for about 20 minutes before I hit the beach or the garden. Do not use any soap, just soak and rub the oil into your body.

Then pull the plug out with your toe and let the water drain out. Watch your stress and tension whirling down the plug hole with the water.

Drip dry and rub in the remaining oil and water that is left on your body.

A very effective recipe to stop skin peeling and also for maintaining your tan.

Please remember to BE CAREFUL in the sun. It BURNS!

And keep this on your list of best essential oil recipes.

  • Migraine Headache Chaser

3 drops peppermint oil and 3 drops lavender in a tablespoon of jojoba.

Apply to temples to ease your migraines.

I like to store my blend in a dram vial with an orifice reducer for easy application.

  • Morning and Motion Sickness Reliever

I like a blend of ginger and lemon for this purpose.

4 drops lemon, 3 drops peppermint and 3 drops ginger mixed with coarse sea salt…

just enough to fit in a dram vial.

Sniff for morning sickness, nausea, or sea-sickness.

Carry it with you and sniff when you need to and it won’t spill.

  • Calming And Relaxing

1 ounce carrier oil such as sweet almond

10 drops Roman Chamomile

5 drops Lavender

Mix the oils well and add to a clean, air-tight dark glass container.

Massage gently into the feet of the individual who needs to relax.

Giving yourself a foot massage with this relaxing oil is also delightful.

Roman Chamomile has a strong sedative effect, so do not plan to drive or concentrate after using this blend.

If you prefer to make a diffuser blend, make a blend with a ratio of 2 drops Roman Chamomile to 1 drop Lavender and add to your diffuser.
